INDUSTRIAL EXTRUSION

Industrial Silicone Tubing

Extruded silicone tubing and hose for fluid conveyance, cable protection, thermal insulation and general industrial applications. Over 5,000 tooling sets in stock for short lead times. Formulations from general-purpose to high-tear.

Industrial Silicone Tubing
Bore ID 0.5 to 145 mm
Hardness 10–90 Shore A
Temperature –60 °C to +200 °C
Tooling > 5,000 in stock
Temperature range extendable to +300 °C / +315 °C with specific formulation or HT additive. Consult for each application.

An industrial silicone tube is the choice when the operating environment rules out other elastomers: temperatures above +150 °C where EPDM rubber loses its properties, low-temperature flexibility requirements where PVC stiffens, chemical inertness towards process fluids, or simply when service life justifies the cost over lower-performance materials. VMQ silicone retains its mechanical properties across a continuous range of –60 to +200 °C, is inert to most aqueous fluids and does not degrade under UV or ozone exposure.

We manufacture industrial tubing and hose in VMQ silicone with two cure-system families: peroxide (Series 2) as the economical general-purpose formulation with the widest hardness range (10 to 90 Shore A), and platinum (Series 12) when higher purity, absence of cure by-products or food/medical certifications are required — at no additional formulation cost. For applications where the tube is subjected to severe mechanical stress — frequent assembly onto fittings, vibration, pulling during installation — the high-tear formulations (Series 1 peroxide, Series 10 platinum) double or triple the tear strength of standard silicones.

Bore sizes from 0.5 mm to 145 mm, with wall thicknesses from 0.5 mm. Over 5,000 tooling sets in stock cover the most common ID x wall thickness combinations, enabling short delivery lead times. For dimensions outside the catalogue, we manufacture new tooling in 2–4 weeks. Tolerances to ISO 3302-1 E1/E2. Manufactured under ISO 9001 with full traceability.

General-purpose tube or one with specific requirements?

If your application has no regulatory requirements (food-grade, medical, railway) and no extreme conditions (temperature > +200 °C, fuels, cyclic fatigue), a standard industrial tube in Series 2 or Series 12 is the most efficient solution. If you need food-contact certification, see our food-grade tubing. For medical devices, medical tubing. For service above +200 °C, high-temperature tubing. For peristaltic pumps, peristaltic tubing.

Constructions

Industrial tube types by construction

Plain single-layer tube

Plain single-layer tube

Circular cross-section with a homogeneous single-compound wall. This is the most versatile construction: it covers everything from air and water conveyance to cable protection and thermal insulation. Available in all catalogue formulations, translucent or coloured as required.

Mesh-reinforced tube

Mesh-reinforced tube

Silicone tube with polyester, aramid or stainless-steel mesh reinforcement embedded between two silicone layers. The reinforcement allows the tube to operate under internal pressure or vacuum without deformation, collapse or bulging. The inner layer remains smooth to minimise pressure drop.

Cable and sensor protection tube

Cable and sensor protection tube

Silicone tubes designed to sleeve, insulate and protect electrical wiring, fibre optics, thermocouples and probes in environments with elevated temperature, vibration or chemical aggression. Silicone offers excellent dielectric insulation, UV/ozone resistance and permanent flexibility, avoiding the cracking that plastic sleeving develops over time.

Co-extruded bicolour or multi-material tube

Co-extruded bicolour or multi-material tube

Two or more silicone layers extruded simultaneously. This allows an inner layer with specific properties (conductive, food-grade, high-tear) to be combined with an outer layer of a different colour or formulation. This is not a painted tube: both layers are integral silicone with molecular adhesion between them.

Dimensions

Dimensional ranges by application

We hold over 5,000 tooling sets in stock covering the most common bore and wall-thickness combinations used in industry. This means short delivery lead times for the majority of standard dimensions. For specific ID x wall thickness combinations not held in stock, we manufacture new tooling in 2–4 weeks.

Micro-bore and small-diameter tubing

ID 0.5 to 6 mm

Small-bore tubes for precision pneumatic circuits, instrumentation, dosing and fine-cable protection. Wall thicknesses from 0.5 mm. The flexibility of silicone permits very tight bend radii without bore collapse.

When to use: Instrumentation pneumatic circuits, additive dosing, sensor sleeving, pressure-gauge connections, sampling lines.
Inside diameter
0.5 to 6 mm
Wall thickness
0.5 to 2 mm
Typical supply form
Coils of 25, 50 or 100 m

Formulations: Series 2 (economical), Series 12 (platinum), Series 11 (conductive/ESD).

General-purpose and connections

ID 6 to 20 mm

Standard range for the majority of industrial applications: compressed-air conveyance, process water, cooling fluids and equipment connections. Compatible with quick-release couplings and standard hose clips.

Transfer and industrial process

ID 20 to 60 mm

Large-bore sizes for high-flow fluid transfer, equipment connection hoses, air ducting for ventilation systems and vacuum circuits. Wall thicknesses of 3 to 7 mm to balance flexibility with structural rigidity.

When to use: Process-fluid transfer, inter-equipment connection hoses, vacuum lines, ventilation-system air ducting, flexible connections.
Inside diameter
20 to 60 mm
Wall thickness
3 to 7 mm
Typical supply form
Coils of 10 m or cut lengths

Formulations: Series 2 (economical), Series 12 (platinum), textile or metal reinforced.

Large-bore to drawing

ID 60 to 145 mm

Large-section tubes for connection sleeves, ventilation ducts, large-format equipment connections and special applications. Manufactured to drawing with dedicated tooling. Silicone retains its flexibility at these diameters where other elastomers become excessively rigid.

When to use: Machinery connection sleeves, flexible ventilation ducts, large-format equipment connections, internal duct liners.
Inside diameter
60 to 145 mm
Wall thickness
4 to 10 mm
Typical supply form
Cut to length

Formulations: Series 2 (economical), Series 12 (platinum), metal reinforced (pressure/vacuum).

The most common dimensions (ID 3 to 50 mm in standard wall thicknesses) have tooling in stock. For ID x wall thickness combinations outside the catalogue, we manufacture new tooling with a lead time of 2–4 weeks. Tolerances: ISO 3302-1 class E1 (standard) or E2 to customer specification.

How we work

From compound to validated industrial tube

Silicone tube extrusion follows a controlled process that ensures dimensional uniformity, concentricity and consistent mechanical properties throughout the entire production run.

1

Compound and tooling selection

Application analysis to determine formulation, hardness and dimensions. Stock tooling check (over 5,000 combinations available). If no tool exists for the required ID x wall thickness combination, it is machined in steel with a lead time of 2–4 weeks.

2

Continuous extrusion with air-pressure control

The compound is fed into the extruder and passes through the crosshead where the mandrel and die form the tubular section. Controlled air pressure maintains bore-diameter stability during vulcanisation in a continuous oven. Line speed and temperature are adjusted according to the formulation.

3

Dimensional inspection and post-cure

Measurement of inside diameter, outside diameter, wall thickness and concentricity. Tolerances to ISO 3302-1 E1/E2. Peroxide formulations (Series 2, 1) undergo oven post-cure to remove volatile residues. Platinum formulations (Series 12, 10) require no post-cure.

4

Cutting, coiling and documentation

Cut to length or coiled in rolls of 10, 25, 50 or 100 metres as required. Packaged with batch identification, formulation, dimensions and certifications. Certificate of conformity available with full traceability.
