The product

Batch-to-batch controlled thickness tolerance: the difference between a diaphragm that works and a batch that triggers complaints.

A diaphragm is a flexible membrane that separates two chambers and deflects under differential pressure to regulate the flow of fluid or gas. Functionality depends on three properties of the base sheet: thickness (determines actuation force and deflection), hardness (determines flexibility and fatigue life) and batch-to-batch consistency (ensures that every die-cut diaphragm behaves like the previous one). A 0.5 mm diaphragm with a generic tolerance of ±0.15 mm may deliver actual parts between 0.35 and 0.65 mm — a 60 % variation in thickness that changes actuation force, maximum deflection and fatigue life.

Tolerance control · multipoint measurement

Multipoint thickness measurement on every batch for functional repeatability of the diaphragm

In OEM diaphragm manufacturing, batch-to-batch thickness consistency determines the functional repeatability of the component: two diaphragms with the same series and hardness but with 0.05 mm difference in actual thickness have different actuation force, deflection and fatigue life. That is why control is performed by multipoint measurement, not by a single sample at the end of the roll.

Each batch is measured at at least 9 points distributed over the roll (3 along × 3 across) with digital micrometer or capacitive thickness gauge. Declared tolerance: ±0.05 mm (0.2-0.5 mm) · ±0.08 mm (0.5-1.0 mm) · ±0.10 to ±0.15 mm (1.0-1.5 mm). The measured values are included in the batch certificate of conformity.

For platinum S12 grades destined for medical use, the documentation also includes USP Class VI and ISO 10993 biocompatibility (platinum catalysis does not generate peroxide by-products, so it does not require mandatory post-curing). Documentation ready for the medical device technical file.
