What the sector demands

Stable dielectric insulation, flame retardancy, EMI shielding and REACH/RoHS compliance.

Silicone components in the electrical and electronics sector operate under continuous or alternating voltage, exposure to electromagnetic fields, thermal cycling from power dissipation and UV ageing in outdoor applications. Polymer flammability is governed by UL94 V-0; dielectric strength by IEC 60243; electrical flammability by glow-wire under IEC 60695. Insulating series (platinum or peroxide cure) and the conductive S11 series (with carbon fillers) cover the two ends of the catalogue.

Four technical requirements

Insulation · flame retardancy · EMI shielding · environmental

01

Stable dielectric insulation

Insulating VMQ and PVMQ series with dielectric strength tested under IEC 60243. Volume resistivity above 10¹⁵ Ω·cm in standard insulating versions. Stability in the presence of humidity, condensation, prolonged thermal cycles and thermal ageing up to +210 °C.

02

UL94 V-0 flammability

Flame-retardant series with UL94 V-0 coverage tested in the formulation. For sectors with dual requirements (electrical + on-board rail), EN 45545-2 also applies with HL1, HL2 or HL3 classification depending on vehicle location. IEC 60695 glow-wire tests for additional electrical flammability.

03

EMI / RFI shielding

Series 11 of the Progress catalogue with carbon fillers · volume resistivity ≤4-12 Ω·cm · hardnesses 50 and 70 Shore A. Available in black only. For connector gaskets, sealing of electronic equipment bays, wiring shielding and EMI closures in power electronics and avionics.

04

REACH and RoHS compliance

All Progress catalogue series comply with REACH (CE 1907/2006) and RoHS (2015/863) in their standard versions. Restriction of hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment is confirmed for each batch through the base polymer CoA and declaration of compliance.

Manufacturing under electronic control

ISO 8 cleanroom with extrusion and moulding of insulating and conductive series

The Apt plant (France, 550 m² ISO 8) runs extrusion and moulding of insulating and conductive compounds under ISO 9001. The conductive S11 series with carbon fillers is processed on a dedicated line to avoid contamination with insulating series. Each batch ships with a mechanical data sheet, applicable UL94 V-0 / IEC 60243 / IEC 60695 tests and REACH and RoHS declaration.

Batch traceability

Each batch ships with a mechanical data sheet, dielectric test and REACH/RoHS declaration

The base polymer arrives with the supplier CoA and REACH and RoHS declaration of compliance. Each banbury assigns a unique batch number · the conductive S11 series is processed on a dedicated line to avoid cross-contamination with insulating series. Mixing, calendering, extrusion or moulding, post-curing in a sealed stainless steel oven and ISO 3302-1 dimensional control are tracked under the same identifier.

Each shipment ships with a certificate of conformity, the compound mechanical data sheet (tensile NF ISO 37, hardness NF ISO 7619-1, ageing NF ISO 188), reference to the applicable UL94 V-0, IEC 60243 and IEC 60695 tests, E1/M2 dimensional control plan and REACH and RoHS declaration to accompany the final electrical product.
