Flat gaskets and components in FKM and Viton™ B
Flat gaskets, seals and custom-cut components in fluorocarbon elastomer. Manufactured by CNC oscillating-knife cutting or by die-cutting from FKM / Viton™ B sheet, for chemical resistance to fuels, oils, solvents and hydraulic fluids in continuous service from –20 to +200 °C.
Batch traceability, material certificate available (aerospace AMS 7276 for Viton™ B; ASTM D1418 / D2000 for generic FKM). Pad-printing marking on request.
Fluorocarbon elastomer cut to size for systems with fuels, oils and hydraulic fluids.
Fluoroelastomers (FKM and Viton™ B) are fluorocarbon elastomers with 66-68 % fluorine content. The density of C–F bonds in the polymer chain gives them chemical resistance to a very wide range of aggressive media — aromatic fuels, mineral and synthetic oils, hydraulic fluids, aliphatic solvents, dilute acids — in continuous service up to +200 °C with peaks up to +230 °C. Where NBR, neoprene or silicone itself lose properties, FKM keeps stable.

Viton™ B vs generic FKM — quick comparison
Material properties are equivalent within the declared ranges. The choice depends on the customer's specification: DuPont traceability and aerospace AMS 7276 certification with Viton™ B, or cost-optimised with generic ASTM FKM.
| Property | Viton™ B (DuPont) | Generic FKM | Standard |
|---|---|---|---|
| Fluorine content | 68 % | 66-68 % | — |
| Hardness | 70 ±5 Shore A | 70 ±5 Shore A | ASTM D2240 |
| Tensile strength | 10 MPa typical | 9 to 13 MPa | ASTM D412 |
| Elongation at break | 150 % | 125 to 200 % | ASTM D412 |
| Compression set (70 h / 200 °C) | ≤ 25 % | ≤ 25 % | ASTM D395 |
| Swelling ASTM Oil #3 | Excellent (≤ 10 %) | Excellent (≤ 10 %) | ASTM D471 |
| Continuous service temperature | –20 to +200 °C | –20 to +200 °C | — |
| Batch traceability | DuPont™ certificate available | ASTM certificate available | — |
| Aerospace certification | AMS 7276 available | Limited (consult) | AMS 7276 |
| Relative cost | Premium (+30 to +40 %) | Standard | — |
- Mechanical and chemical properties are equivalent within the declared ranges. The difference lies in brand, traceability and certification: Viton™ B requires a DuPont certificate and supports AMS 7276; generic FKM complies with ASTM D1418 and D2000 without a mandatory brand.
- Indicative comparison. The choice depends on the customer's specification (OEM, regulated, aerospace vs general industrial), not on the manufacturing process — which is identical for both materials.

When to specify Viton™ B with certificate and when generic FKM with ASTM specification
Viton™ B (DuPont registered trademark) is specified when the project requires a material certificate traceable to the manufacturer, critical process validation where batch-to-batch variability must be minimised, aerospace application with AMS 7276, or regulated environment (pharmaceutical, nuclear) with documented quality audits. Premium cost of the order of +30 to +40 % over generic FKM.
Generic FKM is specified for general industrial use without a brand requirement, cost optimisation where ASTM D1418 / D2000 specification is sufficient, replacement of an existing component with an open FKM specification, or pilot project and prototyping with sourcing flexibility. Mechanical and chemical properties are equivalent within the declared ranges.
In either case — Viton™ B or generic FKM — the cutting, dimensional inspection, AQL 1.5 sampling and batch-product traceability are carried out identically. The choice depends on the customer's specification, not the manufacturing process.

Send us the drawing (DXF, PDF), the fluid in contact, the service temperature and pressure, the geometry (circular, rectangular, with holes, with insert), the required material (Viton™ B with material certificate or generic ASTM FKM) and the annual volume. We confirm cutting feasibility, optimal process (die-cutting or CNC with oscillating knife), quotation and lead time. If your project requires AMS 7276 or FDA, state it so we can reserve lead time.
