The product

Raw materials approved for food contact and oven post-curing to remove residual volatiles.

Silicone is the reference elastomer for food contact thanks to its chemical inertness, lack of taste and odour, resistance to extreme temperatures and ease of cleaning. For the sheet to comply with regulations, the raw materials in the compound must be approved by the relevant authorities — FDA in the United States, BfR in Germany, CE 1935/2004 in Europe — and the process must include oven post-curing (4 h at 200 °C) which removes low molecular weight volatiles generated during vulcanising.

FDA post-curing · certified raw materials

Oven post-curing and raw materials approved by FDA, BfR and CE 1935/2004

For the sheet to be suitable for food contact, it is not enough that the VMQ polymer itself is: the raw materials in the compound (catalyst, pigments, fillers, additives) must each be approved by the regulatory authorities — FDA 21 CFR 177.2600, BfR IX and XV (Germany), CE 1935/2004 (Europe).

The manufacturing process includes oven post-curing (4 h at 200 °C) which removes the low molecular weight volatiles (LMV) generated during vulcanising. Without post-curing, these volatiles can migrate to the product in contact; with post-curing, the material is stable and migration stays below regulatory limits.

Each food-grade batch is delivered with a certificate of conformity, raw material traceability and extraction and migration test results on request for HACCP, IFS, BRC audits or the customer's food safety dossier.
