The product

The peristaltic tube is the only component in contact with the fluid and also the one under the highest mechanical stress.

A peristaltic pump works by cyclically compressing and releasing a flexible tube. Each occlusion cycle squeezes the tube fully against the housing, and each release requires it to recover its circular shape to generate the suction effect. A standard silicone tube subjected to this regime progressively loses elasticity: compression set increases, flow rate drops and the tube eventually collapses.

Platinum formulations for peristaltic service

Series 30 – Platinum-cure silicone for peristaltic pumps and extrusion

Series 30 is a platinum-catalysed silicone blend, formulated exclusively for the extrusion process. Its main feature is good resistance to failure under repeated deformation, which makes it the ideal material for peristaltic pump tubing. Its base colour is translucent and it offers a hardness range from 50 to 65 Shore A.

Platinum-catalysed technical silicone, specially designed for extrusion of tubing, profiles and peristaltic pump tubes. It offers good resistance to failure under repeated deformation, excellent thermal stability and food and medical compatibility depending on the formulation. Translucent base colour.

ISO 8 cleanroom · France

Medical and pharmaceutical peristaltic tubing is extruded in a cleanroom

Medical applications (analysers, dialysis, in-vitro diagnostics) and pharmaceutical applications (active ingredient dosing, bioreactors) require the traceability and freedom from particulate contamination that only a certified cleanroom guarantees. Series 30 is extruded in the ISO 8 cleanroom at Progress Silicones in France (550 m² validated to ISO 14644-1) whenever the application calls for it.

Platinum curing requires no post-cure, eliminating a potential source of contamination and shortening lead times. Every batch is supplied with a certificate of conformity, process parameter records and full raw-material traceability for inclusion in the technical file of the pump or device manufacturer.
