Liquid silicone rubber (LSR) injection and plastic-silicone two-material overmoulding require a dedicated press park and a cleanroom environment that not every transformer maintains. With the integration of Top Tech Silicones, the Progress group adds both to its process catalogue: six presses dedicated to LSR injection and one plastic/silicone two-material overmoulding press, operating in an ISO 8 cleanroom.
Top Tech Silicones is an Italian company based in Lombardy with more than twenty years moulding LSR for regulated sectors — medical, pharmaceutical, cosmetic and food. Its 1,500 m² plant is ISO 9001 and ISO 13485 certified and operates under an ISO 8 cleanroom. The press park includes six presses dedicated to 100 % silicone LSR injection, one plastic/silicone two-material press and one plastic press.
Until now the group's moulding was concentrated in Apt (France), where compression, HCR injection and LSR injection coexist over 550 m² of ISO 8 cleanroom — the only plant in the group where extrusion and moulding coexist. The integration adds a second ISO 8 cleanroom, this one specialised in liquid silicone. With it, the group covers the three moulding techniques (compression, HCR and LSR) and specifically expands its LSR and two-material capacity.
The distinction matters at the project table. LSR injection starts from a liquid two-component A+B mixed in a static head and vulcanised by the mould temperature. Versus solid HCR, it allows tighter tolerances, thin walls and complex geometry, and scales from prototype to long series with automated demoulding. Two-material overmoulding joins plastic and silicone into a single part with no later assembly, which solves material-to-material joints that would otherwise depend on adhesives or assembly — a common case in medical components and connectors.
The operation does not change the usual contacts: the French and Italian teams work together and maintain continuity on ongoing projects. Progress, which has transformed silicone since 1985 through extrusion, moulding, mixing and technical seals manufacturing, adds with this integration an LSR injection and overmoulding capacity that it did not previously concentrate in a dedicated plant.
ProSilicones64 is the Progress group's hub in Spain: it manages the full catalogue, runs projects end to end and exports from the Iberian Peninsula — Spain and Portugal — to the rest of Europe, America and Asia. With this integration, LSR injection and two-material overmoulding enter that catalogue and are coordinated from Spain, within the same group and under ISO 13485, without going through external transformation.
